Happy New Year!
My Special Note...
Happy New Year! It's hard to believe that it is already 2019. I can not believe that I am writing to you about what's new in my life and in Modern Empowerment for 2019. 2018 went by very quickly. I must admit that I am excited about 2019 and happy about new beginnings. 2018 had its fair share of ups and downs. I believe that it all served a purpose in a greater plan. How about you? Can you relate? Are you ready to receive all of the good things in store for your life or organization? I don't know about you, but I can "sense" that this year will be a great year for many great business owners and business professionals.
My Family Traditions That Inspired Me!
Typically, I share stories about my life in my blogs and newsletters to connect with our reader's life experiences so that we can learn from each other. I had a wonderful experience spending time with my family. My husband & I have two daughters and a two year old son. Some of our favorite holiday traditions include playing classic Christmas songs while putting up the Christmas tree, staying up late to wrap gifts, and sharing stories from our youth of what our parents used to do for us during the holidays when we were children. Christmas is truly my favorite holiday.
I love Christmas music. I attempt to sing Christmas songs each year. However, each year I have failed to remember any of the words to any of the songs, even though I do this each year. My children laugh profusely at my failed attempt to sing each year out of harmony. Typically, my performance starts with me singing the beginning words to a song but gradually ends with me humming or creating my own remix of words or chorus lines. Oh, how I love the holidays!
Instead of turning away from my out of tune ways and epic fail of remembering words to the songs, I have come find it quite comedic to sing part of the song and to hum the rest around my family. I've come love them hear them say, "Aww mom!" and burst out in laughter. I often wonder how long my children will marvel and laugh at my Christmas caroling folly. I love hearing them laugh and seeing them happy. I guess will continue to do it every year, until they decide to stop laughing with me... I guess by then I will go on to a new tradition and memory that could amuse them.
It's moments like those and so many other's that make us who we are. These moments may seem so common or minor but they are powerful because subconsciously they ignite motivation within us to reach our maximum potential in life, and to be successful so that we can create more.

 I want to take the time to celebrate and honor the rich legacy and memory of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. King made many great contributions to our country for human rights, along with many other great men and women in our country. America is greater because of the sacrifices that were made to unite our nation for civil rights and equality. I am thankful for Dr. King and all of the heroes who have fought the good fight to make our nation the great country that it is.
